Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter: Advancing Housing Through Innovation
par Habitat for Humanity International IncAn estimated 1.6 billion people are living in inadequate shelter globally—a crisis worsened by the lack of attention to, and investment in, informal housing markets. Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter is tackling this challenge head-on by transforming how housing markets serve low-income families.
The Center works across more than 50 countries to expand access to better housing products, services, and financing. By partnering with financial institutions, manufacturers, and local entrepreneurs, the Center helps families build safer, healthier homes - often incrementally, as resources allow. It also seeks to integrate and foster the adoption of sustainable building methods, which can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from construction. From testing new technologies to scaling climate-smart materials, the Terwilliger Center is driving innovation that’s both inclusive and environmentally responsible.
By supporting this work, you help unlock opportunity for families to improve their homes and futures on their own terms.
