Veterans Build: Shelter and Stability for Service Members

Habitat for Humanity is proud to serve those who’ve served. Through programs like Repair Corps, Habitat partners with U.S. military veterans to provide critical home repairs that improve safety, accessibility, and quality of life.

The need is urgent: According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, 2.5 million veteran-headed households are led by individuals aged 55 or older. Of these, 24% face housing cost burdens. Older veterans are also more likely than their civilian peers to have a disability—35% compared to 28%—which may require home modifications, health services, and other support as they age. From fixing roofs and HVAC systems to installing ramps and grab bars, Habitat’s repairs help veterans live with dignity in the homes they love.
